Meet Michael Roesslein

I am very excited to welcome a new member to the Sex, Food & Kettlebells team - Michael Roesslein. Michael is one of the coolest, smartest, and most ambitious people I have met in this industry. We share several common goals and are in the early stages of planning some unique future projects together. For those of you who don't know him already, allow him to introduce himself!

Hello SFK subscribers!

I’m honored and grateful to be able to join forces with someone with such passion and knowledge as Jon Randles.  I met Jon at Paleo f(x) in Austin, Texas exactly one year ago from this weekend, where we actually stayed in the same house for the week.  Since then, I’ve gotten to know Jon and his passion for health and fitness.  Needless to say, I’m excited to begin a partnership with Sex, Food, & Kettlebells going forward.

You all know Jon, but most probably don’t know who I am, so we figured I ought to introduce myself a little bit.  My name is Michael Roesslein (pronounced Rose-line, like the flower), and I’m CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach & Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) Practitioner.  I founded my company, Natural Evolution, in 2009, with the intention of helping as many people as I can to regain their health and vitality.  I also hold a Master’s degree (MS) in Exercise Science/Health Promotion.

My own personal story looks a little like this:  An athlete in high school, I fell into the typical traps of college (Beer, pizza, etc…) and developed an extremely unhealthy lifestyle.  I gained a lot of weight, became very out of shape, and started to develop some rather concerning health issues.  (I was rejected for a life insurance policy in 2005, at age 25)  After deciding I’d like to get back in shape and regain my health, I started hitting the gym regularly.  Eventually, friends and co-workers started asking me training and nutrition-related questions, and I discovered my passion for helping people regain their health.

I started as a trainer, enrolled in grad school, and then came across the writings of Paul Chek.  After finishing school, I went through the CHEK Institute’s Holistic Lifestyle Coach program, as well as the CHEK Exercise Coach program.  These were completely revolutionary experiences for me personally, and professionally.  Over the last few years, I’ve been lucky enough to have learned from some of the absolute best in the natural health, fitness, and functional medicine communities.  In 2013, I completed the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) program, which allows me to use functional lab tests to help clients discover potential healing opportunities.  I believe that almost any dysfunction can be reversed or improved upon via dietary and lifestyle modifications.  I also believe there to be a huge mental, emotional, and spiritual component to health- and therefore always attempt to help people on every level, not just the physical.

While we have different specialties, Jon and I share a similar passion for helping people, and for reaching the pinnacle of our respective fields.  I am personally looking to hopefully begin the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at Bastyr University in San Diego, California next year.  I’m also looking to attend further CHEK Institute programs, and courses taught by the Institute for Functional Medicine in the coming year or two.  I know Jon will finish the entire Z-Health coursework, and together- we’ll be able to help countless people with just about any physical ailment or health condition!

As far as my contribution to “Food, Sex, & Kettlebells:
Regarding the “Sex” aspect of this operation, much of my work (with clients, and teaching classes) revolves around stress and hormones.  As we all know, hormones play a huge role in sex drive, fertility, and all things sex-related.  I’ll be contributing articles and useful information along those lines on a regular basis.  Hormone testing is a big component of my work, and I hope to be able to share useful knowledge with all of you regarding hormone optimization!

As far as “Food” goes, I’ve been cooking since I was a kid, and follow/teach a real food approach to nutrition.  I tend to shy away from using titles (Paleo, etc…), and am not big into dietary dogma.  I believe that clean, nutrient-dense, whole foods are a huge component to optimal health.  I’m looking forward to contributing some exciting recipes, meal ideas, practical tips, research, and articles on the topic of real food nutrition!

Jon is the man when it comes to “Kettlebells”, natural movement, and neurophysiology brain-based training.  While I used to be a trainer (CHEK), I no longer train clients or work in the fitness field.  I am, however, subscribed to many sources of information regarding training, Kettlebells, and all things fitness.  I’ll contribute as much as I can in this arena as well!

We are currently in the planning stages of creating two-day “Sex, Food, and Kettlebells” workshops, which we will be looking to teach across North America.  These will be very educational, fun, and challenging classes for those looking to take their health and fitness to the next level!  I look forward to interacting with his great base of subscribers, and contributors, and am grateful to have this platform from which to share useful knowledge, tips, and suggestions which may help you optimize your health!

In Health,

Michael Roesslein, MS, CHEK, FDN
